With Taiwan’s rise as both a global destination and a key exporter of international visitors, tourism has become an important national industry. Shih Hsin’s Travel & Tourism Center, established in October 2004, aims to encourage cross-strait cultural exchange and teach students how to apply learned theories to practice. Staffed with faculty from the Department of Tourism, as well as Shih Hsin’s alumni and tourism associations veterans, the center’s goals are to establish a strong resource-sharing platform, carry out integrated marketing campaigns, and create skilled tourism professionals.
The center offers event planning and execution, academic exchange and learning, tour, delegation visits, arts and cultural group performances, counseling services and packages for study tours. Internship partnerships have been established with professional tourism agencies, the government, and academia, enabling students from the Department of Tourism to work as trainees. Meanwhile, the center is committed to promoting local tourism development, cross-strait exchange events, and mutual visits by student groups and faculties to diversify the scope it offers to Shih Hsin students.
