Alumni All Over the World Celebrate SHU’s 60th Birthday
SHU celebrated its 60th anniversary in October in the SHU Auditorium and at the Ambassador Hotelin dazzling style with performances and speeches headlined by the Zebra Line and including acts performed by alumni bands and the SHU Pop Music Center.
First All-Media Research and Development Institution a Step Closer
Construction on SHU's new all-media research and development institute has kicked off, with project completion due by Jan 2019. The brand new all-media building will feature professional studios, an animation area, an AR/VR dynamic capture zone, a specimen chamber, pop music center, data center and instruments zone.
SHU has budgeted NT$12 million to help students as part of its new “Dream Come True at SHU" financial assistance program. More than 250 students from middle-to-low and low-income families are set to benefit from the program, which provides free tuition for four years of college.
First ever Drone Aerial photography class held in Taiwan
RTF Department head Professor Yeh has established a SHU drone-filming production class with the purchase of 10 sets of drone cameras in 2015, placing SHU at the forefront of all universities in Taiwan.
Cheerleading Craze ! 11th National Champion!
SHU are Cheerleading Champions again! The team blitzed the national university cheerleading championship on May 7 and 8 enabling SHU to take its 11th title – and the seventh in a row for the team – in what has become an iconic 15-year SHU tradition.

SHU has been rated the second best private university according to prospective students in the latest College Admissions Committee (CAAC) results and No. 7 among all universities, proving its excellence in education.
SHU launches career expo cloud resume app
A resume app at SHU’s career expo stole the show on April 27. At the event, 56 enterprises from 10 different fields attended, including TV stations like TTV, FTV SETTV and 16 other stations. China Times even built a temporary studio for students to try live reporting and SNG.
SHU holds Corporate Social “Good Deeds” Seminar
SHU flew the flag for Corporate Social Responsibility on April 15, holding a seminar attended by the country’s leading experts. Hosted by SHU’s Institute of Knowledge and Economy Development and its director Mr, Liang, the seminar identified the corporations who have won the most trust from their customers as China Trust, TSMC, Taiyen, and for environmental protection, Cathay Financial Holdings.
SHU gets global kudos as ‘top 3’ private college in Taiwan
SHU has been honored worldwide! A ranking of the top universities in Taiwan by 4ICU (4th International Colleges and Universities) placed SHU not only in a list of the top universities, but also in the top three private schools.
Cannes Nomination Proves SHU is World Class
Many outstanding performers have been trained in SHU over the past half century. This year the recognition has continued to roll in with an SHU-alumnus film nominated in the 69th annual Cannes Festival “Short Film Corner”.
SHU takes home four awards for communication and influence
The National Library recently held a press conference for “The Most Influential Academic Resource in Taiwan” to highlight the importance of communication for academics. During the press event, SHU was given four awards, including third place for our Communication Research and Practice periodical.
